Vitiligo is a chronic auto - immune disorder , appears when the melanocytes ( cells produce melanine which is responsible for coloration of skin , hair , lashes ... ) are attacked or destroyed by the auto immune system . This refers to genetic and environmental factors which are not determined exactly and precisely by science yet This condition physically appears like white patches on the skin . It can also cause patches of hair to turn gray or white .This condition is acquis , there are just few cases that are recorded at birth . It affects all races and sexes , and it can develop at any age .
